ELAY advances DOIKA with a new waste water treatment plant that enhances efficiency and sustainability

ELAY has commissioned a new Mechanical VaporRecompression (MVR) plant for the treatment of industrial wastewater at itsELAY EUROPE facility, representing another step forward within the DOIKAcontinuous improvement philosophy. This strategic investment optimizeswastewater management and recovery, significantly reduces energy consumption,and strengthens the sustainability of production processes.

The new installation increases treatment capacity to 9,000liters per day and reduces the power required for operation from 100 kWhto 37 kWh. In addition, it operates with a power consumption of only 28kW, a particularly noteworthy figure due to its low energy demand relativeto the treatment capacity achieved.

Furthermore, this initiative is part of ELAY’s strategy toreduce energy consumption and supports the decarbonization objectives promotedby the automotive industry. In this regard, the investment contributes to thereduction of Scope 3 CO₂ emissions, which are associated with valuechain activities such as resource consumption, waste management, and externalservices required for operations.

The new facility incorporates Mechanical VaporRecompression (MVR) technology, a highly efficient system that concentrateswastewater and recovers high-quality water for reuse within the productionprocess itself. As a result, the consumption of external resources is reduced,advancing a more circular and sustainable production model.

Another key benefit is the ability to manage all wastewatergenerated during production processes internally, reducing operating costs,minimizing dependence on external waste management providers, and improvingenvironmental control over industrial activities.

The new plant also incorporates high levels of automation,enhancing operational safety while reducing manual intervention in operationand maintenance tasks.
